In the future, mathematics will evolve along two distinct trajectories. The first centers on human-AI collaboration that extends human intelligence to generate new mathematics. The second involves fully autonomous AI, where interactions among multiple large models or massive swarms of AI agents produce entirely novel mathematics through emergent processes. The second path in particular resembles an AI-native version of Ramanujan's dream formulas. Large portions of this output will also receive formal verification from AI systems themselves. Of this enormous body of new mathematics, only a limited fraction will fall within the narrow reach of human understanding, much as many of Ramanujan's formulas remain opaque to us today. Intellectuals of the emerging paradigm will no longer look like today's scientists. They will instead function primarily as explorers of AI, probing its depths in the same way scientists currently investigate the natural world.
